New support unit for floating installation of fireplace shells

Floating fireplace installation

02.09.2020

Floating fireplace installations are an eye-catcher for the room - and can now be implemented easily, sturdily and in an installation-friendly manner with the new support bracket system from premium manufacturer BRUNNER based in Lower Bavaria. Without additional metal processing, without flexing, without welding.

Unlike common fireplace systems, floating fireplace installations are not built from the ground upwards, but fixed in a steel frame structure. This must be able to absorb the entire static load without the fireplace insert giving way and cracks appearing in the fireplace shell. Because this usually requires complex targeted solutions from a steel constructor, BRUNNER is now launching a new supporting structure on the market. Thanks to their simple standard construction, any stove builder can offer floating panorama fireplace designs. The customer can thus benefit from low effort, quick installation and precise fitting. The craftsman supplies everything from a single source.

What to do with the weight?

The most important question with floating fireplace installations is statics. The BRUNNER solution: The fireplace insert stands on two solid feet. In detail, it looks like this: The support bracket screwed to the fireplace insert is supplemented with a support unit for the "floating" installation design. It consists of two feet that bear the entire static load of the unit and are fixed to the unfinished floor. The custom-made fire tray is placed on the base of the support unit. To prevent the entire system from tipping forward under load, it is anchored to the rear wall with two turnbuckles. The feet are inserted into the vertical spars of the support bracket as "extension elements", so to speak, and screwed together. Visually, they disappear into the floor structure. With the prefabricated mounting points, the top edge of the fire tray will be 40 to 50 centimetres above the finished floor. The steel fire tray base is adjustable in height. This allows the "thickness" of the fire tray to be varied (approx. 19-25 centimetres). The all-round cladding is made with fireplace building boards, natural stone or ceramic.

The new BRUNNER "floating" installation support unit can be added to BRUNNER panorama fireplaces, i.e. the four models 51/50/50/50, 51/66/40/66, 51/66/50/66 and 51/88/50/88, with integrated support brackets. The two feet are designed for a static load of 500 kilograms each. Despite the large static load, the entire construction appears visually essential, sober and elegant and is also space-saving.
