Add wood, heat up and enjoy completely automated, excellent combustion up to the embers phase: the electronic combustion control EAS from premium manufacturer BRUNNER, Lower Bavaria, has been making this possible for decades. For even more operating convenience, the new EAS 3 can now also be operated with integrated WLAN by app.
The new EAS 3 is available in two versions. Wireless access via WLAN is incorporated in both variants. In the familiar design with glass plate and user interface, the control can be operated by app in addition to the already familiar handling. In the reduced form with invisible, digital control unit and without display, access is only provided through WLAN and app. The app works on the smartphone just as it does on the tablet, is free of charge and is intended for access in the reception area of the local home network. When installing EAS 3 without display, it is of course important to ensure that the installation location is within the reception range of the corresponding WLAN router. So that both operation and configurability are guaranteed.
The initial start-up, i.e. the configuration of the heating insert and additional function, is easily controlled by app on the EAS 3 without a display. For this purpose, a button is installed on the control board that starts the connection to the existing Internet access. Feedback is provided through an LED status display. In detail, it works like this: EAS 3 is factory set up as an access point. The app connects to the control unit for the first time, identifies the local WLAN and forwards the access data to the EAS 3. With this information, EAS 3 automatically switches to the local WLAN - the WLAN symbol is shown in the display variant. Configuration and operation are now possible by app.
The buttons and setting options familiar from the EAS display version are also available on the app. The combustion counter, the operating hours, operating instructions or error displays and the current combustion as a temperature curve can be seen at a glance, which makes the app especially clear. As usual, a protected access is available for craftsmen. Here, the heating insert is set, the known parameter levels are called up or adjusted and additional functions such as damper flap, switching output A4 and switching input are configured. If, for example, the message "Window not tilted" comes from a window toggle switch with building authority approval, a ventilation system is blocked by the A4 for the combustion operating time. Requests from a municipality or a legislator can be quickly implemented with software customisation by a customer service representative. If, for example, regional dust filters were required, information for control and display can be processed accordingly through the digital input.
BRUNNER controls such as EAS 3 do not only check the combustion air supply, which is crucial for optimum combustion. They also detect typical heating faults such as too little, damp or unsuitable firewood, and provide the user with appropriate operating instructions. A new feature is the indication of the perfect time for refilling. If it is chosen properly, the wood ignites by itself over the existing embers. For each heating insert, parameters are stored that define the start and end of the perfect refilling period. A small flag above the combustion curve marks the point at which refilling can occur. The second flag is displayed when refilling requires reheating.
At BRUNNER, stove controllers are developed and manufactured according to industry standards. They are reliable, durable and guarantee spare parts supply for ten years. When it comes to replacement, what pays off is that the installation dimensions, plugs, cables and motors have not changed, so much so that only the control unit needs to be replaced. In this way, an EAS 3 can be used as a combustion control for EAS 2 to EOSR 4 (year of installation 2007) as a replacement device.
