Swivel-mount fireplace

Fire from every perspective

Revolving, compact fireplace with flat viewing glass

The BRUNNER swivel-mount fireplace from the premium manufacturer in Lower Bavaria enables a fire atmosphere from more than one angle, optionally also with heat storage for delayed heating. It offers exactly the technology needed for optimum heating performance without having to do without fire from all perspectives. The square stove cube can be rotated at a 90° angle and is not a gimmick, but a real wood-burning insert for craftsman's stoves. Excessively protruding viewing glass is dispensed with in favour of even more homogeneous heat emission, but you can still enjoy the view of the flame play.

Swivel-mount fireplace principle

A glimpse under the stove cover

The swivel-mounted BRUNNER wood-burning inserts are made of durable, high-quality cast iron in the support frame profile, which is visually appealing and guarantees even, long-lasting and cosy heat distribution. Further features:

  • The heating gas pipe has a connection for a ceramic or metallic reheating surface.
  • The flush-fitting fire door has integrated double glazing.
  • The optically faced axle is fitted with pivot bearings at the bottom and top.
  • The support frame stands on adjustable feet.
  • The niche cladding consists of 6 millimetre thick steel plates at the top and bottom of the rear wall.
  • The base is made of floor insulation and plinth stones (MSSI).
  • The filling quantity is three to 5 kilograms, the log length between 25 and 33 centimetres (9.84 and 12.9 inches).

Revolving construction and fire door

The edge length of the cube of the swivel-mount fireplace, which is mounted downwards and upwards, is 50 centimetres (19.6 inches) and can be turned by hand to all sides in the desired viewing direction by means of a revolving bearing. For this purpose, a plug-in handle is placed in the corresponding receptacle.

Since the BRUNNER swivel-mount fireplace is a heating device and is also used as such, the experience gained in recent years has been incorporated into the further development of the system and the upper swivel bearing has been made even more resilient. This allows for even more leeway in terms of thermal and mechanical loads. While the lower ball bearing is installed as an axial bearing in the cooler, lower axis section as a mounting that absorbs the entire static load of the "rotary cube" (up to 16 tonnes) and is easy to move, BRUNNER uses a more suitable concept for the upper mounting. Tests have shown that: Under thermal load, an axle guide in the burn-off area with two sealing cords, which are installed in a circumferential bead and thus double-sealed, is significantly more robust and much quieter than the ball bearing version. Another advantage is the flanged design allowing the axle to be removed downwards via the combustion chamber, making assembly and disassembly of the rotary cube by the furnace builder very easy and flexible. The possible angle range is decided by the construction method and the craftsman; it can be individually adjusted up to 235 degrees.

Naturally, there is also a motorised operating version, which is not necessary, but is fun. The remote control provided for this is simple and of good quality. The many practical and well thought-out details that are standard for the Lower Bavarian premium manufacturer have proven their worth in the swivel-mount fireplace. First and foremost, the sealing surface, which is ground flush with the body and thus permanently tight. A sealing cord for the firebox door is therefore superfluous, a self-locking closure with integrated spring balancer always keeps the door firmly and tightly against the body.

Made from solid cast iron

The pivot-mounted BRUNNER wood fire inserts are made of durable, high-quality cast iron, the most durable material in heating technology. It enables a virtually stress- and torsion-free firebox construction that can withstand the high thermal loads. And it is the solution to guarantee operational reliability for decades. Problems of scaling, which can occur with simple sheet steel and limit the service life, do not exist with cast iron.

Thus, the philosophy of cast iron fits perfectly with the requirements of modern living spaces: visually appealing with slow, comfortable heat distribution and high robustness, it offers advantages that other metals cannot provide. As the manufacturer of a unique heat source, the wood fire, it is essential for BRUNNER to understand contemporary living. It is not enough to simply produce fireplace or tiled stove inserts and hope that they will meet people's demands. Only when you have understood their needs and wishes can you speak of quality, according to the company's philosophy. Not only because components last a long time, but because they keep a promise for a long time. With this in mind, BRUNNER wood fires have been developed and built for over 30 years.

Swivel-mount fireplace with electronic combustion control

The combustion chamber provides the prerequisite for natural wood to burn with low emissions, provided the wood quality and operation are right. With the BRUNNER stove control, the swivel-mount fireplace can also be designed effortlessly and perfectly. The most convenient version is the combination with the electronic combustion control (EAS). You only have to heat and add wood, everything else is then controlled automatically. The result is optimum efficiency and long ember retention times, because the EAS's servomotor never forgets to readjust or close the combustion air after a burn. This is particularly convenient if you cannot continue to operate the stove after it has been fired up, for example because you are leaving the house or going to bed.

The look

The niche casing is offered in two versions: for a uniformly encompassing stove cover or for a stove cover that is recessed in the upper area. In the case of a customised design, it is also possible to do without a niche casing.

Optional stove systems

You can have the BRUNNER swivel-mount fireplace designed by a master furnace builder as a hot-air stove or as a storage furnace with radiant heat, depending on personal taste and requirements.

  • As a fireplace, it serves primarily as a visual element that provides a fire atmosphere and rapid heat in all corners of the installation room. This concept is used when a high heat output is required, such as in old buildings or large rooms. With hot-air stoves, the room air flows along the heating insert and the metal reheating surface, heats up very quickly and is fed into the living space via hot air grids. The power peaks are correspondingly high during the burn-off, as the storage is only built into the stove casing of the tiled stove. After the stove has burnt down, the heat output decreases noticeably and the hot-air stove cools down.
  • As a tiled stove with ceramic flues, the swivel-mount fireplace produces pleasant radiant heat for hours, it is the most pleasant form of heat emission and is always implemented where a low, long-lasting and even heat output is required, such as in a low-energy house. In the storage furnace, the heat is stored in the 200 to 400 kilogram ceramic reheating surface and released slowly over the heater surface. This avoids high power peaks and excessive room temperature fluctuations. Depending on the storage, the tiled stove requires a correspondingly longer heating time. When the burn-off is over, the storage continues to supply the required room heat.

Easy to operate

Simple and uncomplicated

Manually operated or automated

The combustion air can be controlled manually with just one operating element (lever). Effortless and easy to understand. The symbols on the glass provide additional support.

Of course, the white display (EAS) shows that it can also be operated automatically. The most convenient version is the combination with an electronic combustion control (EAS). All you have to do is light the stove or add fuel, the control system takes care of everything else. High efficiency is the result, because the EAS servomotor never forgets to readjust and always stops the combustion air supply at the end of the burn-off. This is particularly convenient if the stove cannot be operated any further after its kindling, either because you go to bed or you leave the house.

Without having to forego fire from all perspectives, the DF 33 swivel-mount fireplace by BRUNNER offers precisely the technology needed for optimum heating performance. The square stove cube can be turned at a 90° angle and thus always faces the viewer. In doing so, the DF 33 swivel-mount fireplace does without overly protruding glazing in favour of even more homogeneous heat emission. It is possible to design the BRUNNER swivel-mount fireplace as a hot-air stove or as a storage furnace with radiant heat - depending on personal taste and requirements.

Of course, you can also design a stove body like that of the BRUNNER DF 33 swivel-mount fireplace from simple steel, primarily for cost reasons. But the philosophy of cast iron fits perfectly with the requirements of modern living spaces. Visually appealing with slow, cosy heat distribution and high sturdiness, it offers advantages that other metals cannot provide.

The BRUNNER swivel-mount fireplace can be designed both as a fireplace and as a tiled stove. As a fireplace, it serves primarily as a visual element that provides a fire atmosphere and quick heat in all corners of the living space. As a tiled stove with ceramic flues, it also generates pleasant radiant heat for hours. A feast for the eyes and, moreover, practical and with a great variety of functions.

The wood fire has always been an almost unchanging product in the midst of an ever-changing, fast-moving world. As a manufacturer who has been accompanying people in enjoying this unique source of warmth for decades, it is indispensable to have a good understanding of precisely this world. It is not enough to simply produce fireplace or tiled stove inserts and hope that they will meet people's demands. You have to observe what their needs and wishes are, what moves them and satisfies them. When you have understood this, you can speak of quality. Not only because components last a long time, but because they keep a promise for a long time.
