An unbeatable duo: Wood fire and heat pump

More and more house builders are using heat pumps. Because they are powered by renewable energy, they are quick to install and they are highly efficient. Only flaw: At low temperatures, their efficiency decreases. BRUNNER, the premium manufacturer from Lower Bavaria, offers a unique solution by combining air-water heat pumps with water-bearing wood fireplaces.

New buildings are increasingly equipped with heat pumps, in Germany in every third residential building. They are particularly popular for single- and two-family houses. The main reason is their high efficiency: On average, one kilowatt of electricity is sufficient to generate about three to five times the amount of thermal energy. Heat pumps also meet the requirements of the Energy Saving Ordinance and are very easy to install. The BRUNNER air-water heat pump is installed simply as a compact unit directly near the building. It impresses with an attractive, unobtrusive design and very quiet operation. Thanks to a particularly large compressor, intelligent vibration decoupling and a low-noise, speed-controlled EC fan, the noise level is reduced to a minimum.

Nothing for frosty days

The heat pump extracts thermal energy from the outside air, converts it into heating energy and transfers it to the house's heating system. This is CO2 neutral and environmentally friendly. The efficiency of a heat pump is highest at outdoor temperatures between two and 15 degrees Celsius. If it is colder, it reaches its limits and the efficiency decreases. To prevent the building from cooling down, an electric heating element switches on to provide the missing thermal energy for water and heating. One disadvantage: It requires a lot of electricity and electricity is expensive.

Unique system solution

BRUNNER reduces these load peaks by coupling the heat pump to a water-bearing fireplace or tiled stove. A so far unique solution that works like this: Through an intelligent, electronically controlled mechanism, the heat pump notifies the homeowner as soon as its efficiency drops due to low temperatures. A display control in the living room then instructs the user to heat the water-bearing stove or fireplace or to add wood. Now the fireplace adds its heat surplus to a hydraulic tower next to the buffer tank. It warms up the water for the heating system and ensures a constant heating level even on frosty days. The heat pump is discharged automatically and the entire heating solution matches perfectly in terms of hydraulics and control technology. The easy-to-use display allows the homeowner to see the interaction between the water-bearing tiled stove or fireplace and the heat pump. Optionally, other heat generators can be integrated into the heating concept. For example, a PV system. Coupling to a BRUNNER Smart Home Management System is also possible.

Longer lasting

With the BRUNNER combination of an air-water heat pump and a water-bearing wood fireplace, a building can be heated in an environmentally friendly way with renewable energies all year round. A single control unit controls the entire heating system of the house and combines the heating effect with the special atmosphere of a wood fire. By coupling it to a fireplace or tiled stove, the service life and efficiency of a heat pump increase considerably.
